Karen and I give to Women’s Journey to Hope because the ministry provides hope to women who have no hope! Women who are incarcerated because of addiction are given the opportunity to live in a nurturing, Christian environment without cost to them. They are loved, counseled, held accountable, and taught how much God loves them despite their past mistakes. I have seen several of these women become productive Christian women who live with renewed hope for the future having mended many relationships with their loved ones!

Over the last couple of years of working closely with the women’s home, I have seen not only the lives of women being changed for the better, but also for their families and our community. The recovery home has provided so many women on my caseload a safe place to live and an environment where they can truly thrive in. Being able to see women gain confidence in themselves, learning their self-worth, and being active in their recovery has been an absolute blessing. I will always be so appreciative for the recovery home and all that they do in our community”.

I sponsor the Women’s Journey to Hope because, as a defense attorney, I have seen women who have struggled with addiction and been involved with the justice system go through the program and leave restored and full of life and purpose. I’ve seen families be reunited. The work the house does is so important to our community where substance abuse is a significant problem. Sponsoring the Women’s Journey to Hope is one way that I can help ensure that other women can receive the hope and support that leads to true restoration and redemption.

I’ve been an active leader and participant for years in different ministries at Shelbyville Community Church. I feel super blessed by the outreach programs in the local jail, celebrate recovery at the Bridge, and last but certainly not least the Women’s Journey to Hope. To see the women redeem and reclaim their lives through finding and following their relationship with God is incredible. It all started as part of a church wide commitment to the All In campaign initiated by SCC. We have already seen the fruits of our love and support for all the outreach programs. The WJTH house is the one nearest and dearest to me having lost an older sister to drug and alcohol abuse ending her life by suicide in 1985. Our family was never quite the same, so witnessing these women reclaim their lives is an incredible blessing!!!
